Is the Home Grown Spartan Program Suitable For Beginners?
Most definitely. We will walk you through and provide detailed explanations and tutorials for each exercise in detail. This program will provide value for everyone, from the unfit office worker to the weary weightlifter who is looking for a new challenge.
Can I Use My Own Bands for the Home Grown Spartan Program?
That's fine. Our 5 levels of bands have a very similar resistance profiles to stock standard band bundles. Check out our bands for more detail on the resistance they offer to see if they match up to what you have. If you don't have bands, of course we will recommend purchasing our superior bands, but if you prefer not to purchase bands elsewhere to accompany our program that's fine, as long as you apply our training principles demonstrated in the program! Resistance bands are very cheap and readily available, websites like Amazon or your local athletic retailers will sell them.
Are Bands as Effective as Weights?
Certainly! They will light your muscles on fire carving away fat, and they produce mechanical tension which is the key ingredient for gaining muscle. Bands produce mechanical tension through elastic resistance whilst free weights produce resistance through the force of gravity. Your body doesn't know or care how the tension is being produced. Aside from being extremely portable, cheap and space efficient another great advantage of band is the ability to create linear variable resistance. In layman's terms, the further the band stretches the more tension is produced. So as you progress with your range of motion the bands produce more resistance, which matches your strength curve more effectively than free weights.
